Granthi, friend booked for kidnapping, raping 15-yr-old
DUO ALSO THREATENED GIRL THAT THEY WILL UPLOAD HER OBSCENE VIDEO ON SOCIAL MEDIA
PATIALA: Two people, including a ‘granthi’, have been on the charges of raping and kidnapping 15-year-old girl. The accused have been identified as Sanjog Singh, 22, of Chunagara village near Patran, and Jeewan Singh, a granthi at village gurdwara.
Patran SHO Amanpal Singh said the father of the victim, a Class-10 student, alleged that Sanjog abducted his daughter when she on her way to school on Friday morning and took her to isolated place and raped her.
“The matter came to light when a villager noted down the number of Sanjog’s car and immediately informed police. The accused returned to the village around 2pm to drop the girl but drove away after seeing villagers and police outside the school,” the SHO said
He said the accused took the victim to granthi Jeewan Singh house in Burar village, where they allegedly mercilessly thrashed the girl and made her obscene video.
Police said both accused threatened her that they would circulate the video on social media sites, if she dared to disclose their names to police.
“On reaching home, the victim narrated the whole incident to her father, who approached police,” the SHO added.
While Sanjog was arrested, the granthi is on the run. “Sanjog told police that the objectionable video was in granthi’s mobile phone,” the police said.
