Pungrain godowns raided in Bathinda

BATHINDA: Teams of Punjab vigilance bureau conducted searches in four godowns of Punjab Grains Procuremen­t Corporatio­n Limited (Pungrain) and conducted physical verificati­on of wheat stocks on Friday.

The vigilance teams raided two Pungrain godowns in Naruana and one each in Kotsham iran don Jassi-Bhagu road.

The department had sealed the godowns Friday evening only and with the help of district administra­tion teams started physical verificati­on Saturday morning, which was going till evening.

Bathinda range vigilance bureau senior superinten­dent of police Jagjit Singh said searches had been conducted to check the stocks of the godowns to check whether these matched with the stock registers.

The bags were also physically weighed and the stock was also checked for quality.

“Since the food and civil supplies department is yet to provide some record pertaining to stock, the report with regard to findings of the searches will be prepared by Monday only ,” he said.
