MGNREGA worker slips into pond, dies

SULTANPUR LODHI: A MGNREGA worker drowned to death after slipping into a pond while cleaning it in Mullakala village here on Saturday. Deceased was Jarnail Singh, 57, of Mullakala village. On Saturday, when the workers were cleaning a pond, Jarnail and two other workers slipped into the deep waters. Locals launched a rescue operation and managed to save two persons. However, Jarnail died. SDM Charumita Shekhar and police rushed to the spot to investigate the matter. He assured the victim’s kin to approach government for compensation. HTC
