AIYER PITCHES FOR PEACE IN INDIA, PAKISTAN
JALANDHAR: On the eve of Independence Day, an event‘ In Quest of Peace’, was organised here on Monday. It was aimed at strengthening the bilateral ties between India and Pakistan, and South Asia as a whole.
The speakers emphasised on resuming dialogue with Pakistan, which will help in maintaining peace in both the countries.
Senior Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyer, the keynote speaker said rather than finding ways to attack each other, we should strive for reconciliation.
“Both the countries are so closely related. If you will bomb down Lahore, you will in no second feel the heat in Amritsar,” said Mani Shankar Aiyer.
“Hum Pakistan sekamsekam baat to karein, baat karne mein kya jaata hai,” he said. “Punjab region, in particular, should take the initiative of reaching out to the neighbouring country,” he added.
