SUBASH GHISING

The Gorkhas of Darjeeling had nothing like their own government till Ghising demanded a separate state in 1986. The movement turned violent and destroyed Darjeeling’s economy but by 1988, Ghising got a semi-autonomous Hill Council. Ghising is dead but his cause is still alive, erupting again this year.
