DOGS DIG OUT BODY ‘BURIED DUE TO FUND CRUNCH’

BATHINDA: Stray dogs on Thursday dug out the body of a man who died at Maur Kalan recently and was buried by his son in their backyard, reportedly for want of resources to perform his last rites. SHO Sandeep Singh said victim Surjit Singh, 75, had died five days ago following illness and his son Mohan, 16, buried him in their backyard as he did not have resources for cremation. The body was dug out by stray dogs, which resulted in foul smell in the area and the police were called.The SHO said that on the statement of Sunita, daughter of the deceased, police have conducted inquest proceeding­s and the body sent for postmortem.
