KAITHAL MC CHIEF FAILS TO GET MAJORITY, LOSES POST

KAITHAL: President of the Kaithal municipal council( MC) Y ash pal Prajapati, on Thursday, lost the post of chairman as he failed to get majority in 31 members house.

As per the informatio­n, total 21 members voted against P raj a pa ti intheprese­nce of Kaithaldep­uty commission­er (DC) Sunita Verma in the MC office. Most of themembers, whovoted against P raj a pa ti, alleged discrimina­tion in the developmen­tal works in their respective wards.

Meanwhile, Pawan Threja, vice-president of the MC has been appointed as acting chairman. The move has come as jo lt for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as Prajapati considered as old Rashtriya Swayamseva­k Sangh(R SS) follower and Pa wan Th reja is close to senior Congress leader and local MLA Randeep Singh Surjewala.

The voting was conducted by the DC, following the directions of the Punjab and Haryana high court, which issued the orders for the voting following a complaint filed by the members.

High drama was witnessed outside the MC office here as followers of Prajapati and other Congress leaders started raising slogans against each other soon after the voting. HTC
