RAM RAHIM RAPE TRIAL Deployment of 35 companies of paramilitary forces provided by Centre has already started in Haryana, says DGP
SIRSA: Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC have been issued in Sirsa, where the headquarters of Dera Sacha Sauda is located, and the adjoining district of Fatehabad.
The move comes ahead of the August 25 pronouncement of verdict in the rape case against dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.
The Sirsa police have also sealed the various entry points of the district and set up nakas at several points so that no one can enter the district with illegal arms and ammunition.
A special checking drive has also been launched at the Rajasthan and Punjab borders adjoining the district.
The Sirsa police have also ordered the arms licence holders to deposit their arms at the police stations concerned.
Talking to HT, police spokesperson Surjeet Singh said, “Paramilitary forces will reach Sirsa today and they will be deployed at various nakas by the Sirsa police.”
He added, “Superintendent of police (SP) Ashwin Shenvi has directed the SHOs in the district to collect arms from licence holders. The police will also keep a strict vigil on illegal activities.”
Meanwhile, newly appointed Sirsa deputy commissioner (DC) Prabhjot Singh took charge of his office and appealed people to help in maintaining law and order situation in the district
Fatehabad DC Hardeep Singh said prohibitory orders were implemented in the district on Saturday evening. Hisar DC Nikhil Gajraj said Section 144 will be imposed in the district with effect from August 24.
25 ROADWAYS BUSES SENT TO BRING FORCES
Haryana Roadways Sirsa depot general manager (GM) Ram Kumar said, “We have sent 25 buses on Saturday to various areas, including Jammu and Delhi, to bring paramilitary for-
ces to Sirsa. The forces will reach Sirsa by Sunday evening.”
He said the routes of Haryana roadways buses going from Si rs a to other parts of the state will be changed, if the need be. The leave of all roadways staff has been cancelled and employees have asked to stay at the depot
headquarters.
DGP VISITS HISAR
Meanwhile, director general of police (DGP) BS Sandhu on Sunday visited Hisar to assess the law and order situation in the district. Addressing a press conference later, he urged the local
residents to keep eye on every activity in the area and contact the administration or police if they find anything suspicious.
Sources said the followers of Dera Sacha Sauda in Hisar have decided to hold ‘naam charcha’ for four hours daily at every centre in the district.
