SIRSA: Ahead of the August 25 court verdict in a rape case against him, Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh got support from the Desh (Tomar) khap of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.

During the monthly religious congregation of the dera in Sirsa, Desh khap president Surendra Singh Tomar presented a turban and a mace to Ram Rahim.

Addressing the gathering, Tomar said, “If anyone does injustice to Guruji (dera chief), the UP Jat samaj will stand behind him.”

Ram Rahim has a strong connection with western Uttar Pradesh as his younger daughter is married in Shamli district. The dera chief has a large following in the area.

Meanwhile, Kshatriya Ror Samaj leader Shamsher Singh also extended his community’s support to the dera chief and presented a sword to him.

Speaking on the occasion, he said, “Guruji has brought new revolution in the field of spirituality and society. Some anti-social forces are creating a conspiracy against him. These forces will never be successful. The Kshatriya Ror samaj is standing behind him and such forces will be given a befitting reply.”

On Saturday, Haryana Beopar Mandal had also extended its support to the dera chief, saying he was being “trapped in a conspiracy.”

Addressing his followers, Ram Rahim said, “Everyone should move ahead on the path of truth with the name of God. This is how one gets free of all troubles and happiness kisses his feet.”
