SECURITY MEASURES IN PLACE, SAYS DGP
CHANDIGARH: Haryana director general of police (DGP) BS Sandhu on Sunday said stringent security arrangements have been made for maintaining law and order in view of the August 25 verdict in the rape case against Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh to be delivered by a CBI court in Panchkula.
In a statement, the DGP said the Haryana Police was fully prepared to tackle any situation.
The central government, he said, has provided 35 companies of paramilitary for- ces, the deployment of which has already started. “The focus is on Sirsa, Fatehabad and Panchkula districts where heavy deployment of paramilitary forces has been done.”
He added that the law and order will be maintained with the assistance and cooperation of the people.
‘SOCIAL MEDIA ACTIVITIES CLOSELY MONITORED’
He said social media activities are being closely monitored and necessary instructions have been issued to the superintendents of police (SPs) and other senior officers in the districts to main- tain strict vigil and “report and immediately resolve” even minor incidents.
The DGP said talks are being held with officers of neighbouring states Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh for cooperation in maintaining law and order situation. He said efforts are being made to establish coordination with followers of Dera Sacha Sauda through dialogue, and their cooperation is being sought through meetings with ‘shanti samiti’ (peace committee).
Appeals have also been made to gurdwara managements for assistance in maintaining peace and law and order, he added.
