‘PREMIS’ IN DEFIANT MOOD
SIRSA/KARNAL: Even as the administration in various districts conducting meetings with prominent persons, and taking out flag marches, followers of the Sirsabased Dera Sacha Sauda — ‘premis’ — seem to be in a defiant mode, saying they will not take it lying down if the CBI court’s verdict on August 25 goes against the dera chief.
“Let the local administration do whatever they can. We are also ready to face any kind of situation if the verdict goes against our guru-ji. All cases against him are fake and baseless. We are sure the court will acquit him,” one of the dera managers said.
On Tuesday, several stickwielding women followers asked the shopkeepers near the dera headquarters on the Begu Road in Sirsa to down shutters and join hands to fortify the dera.
KHAP CONFIDENCE
Meanwhile, support from two k haps from UP may shore up the confidence of the dera followers.
On Monday, UP-based Gujjar community president Kuldeep Singh Bhaati told the dera followers during a ‘naam charcha’ that they would stand behind Ram Rahim. The dera chief has also got support from UP’s ‘Desh’ (Tomar) khap, whose president Surendra Singh Tomar said ,“We have seen their (dera’s) work and now, when they need us, we are with them.”
