Sampla takes out ‘sankalp yatra’, Congress protests

AMRITSAR: The BJP MPs and MLAs carried out the ‘sankalp yatras’ under the Naya Bharat Sankalp Yatra here to educate people about the programmes of the Narendra Modi government on Tuesday.

The BJP central minister Vijay Sampla along with party workers led the procession.The yatra started from Jallianwal­a Bagh after paying tribute to the martyrs till Town Hall chowk.

Sampla encouraged people to take a pledge to cooperate in fulfilling the aims set for forming a new India by 2022.

Sampla while addressing the people said, “This yatra is to ignite patriotism among people and eradicate the evils from the society. This is to give birth to a new India which will be terror and corruption free.”

“The Modi government has pledged to eradicate corruption completely. In the past three years of our regime we have never been tagged,” he said.

The yatra covered areas including Fatehgarh Churian, Dera Baba Nanak , Batala , Gurdaspur. The rally will proceed to Pathankot then conclude at Madhopur today . Sampla also paid obeisance at the Golden Temple and Durgiana Temple. Prominent Akali leaders Bikram Majithia , Gurpartap Singh Tika, prominent BJP leaders Tarun Chugh , Rajinder Mohan Chinna , Anil Joshi , mayor Bakshi Ram Arora and Reena Jaitley also took part.

CONG SHOWS BLACK FLAGS

Congress women wing president Jatinder Sonia along with other women workers showed black flags to Sampla during the yatra at the Heritage stretch near the Golden Temple. “This is a diversion tactic and a drama . They are trying to divert public attention from real issues,” said Sonia. She said, “There have been so many deaths due to derailing of train, floods. But our PM and president do not have time to meet the victim families.” “The PM and BJP leaders do not have time for real issues and they are putting their entire energy in this yatra,” she added.

CHUGH SLAMS CONG

Meanwhile BJP national secretaryT­arunChughs­lammedCon- gress for showing black flags to BJP’s ‘sankalp yatra’. Chugh said the Mahila Congress workers who showed black flags during the yatra insulted the national flag, carried by the par- ticipants, as the BJP yatra coincides with the 75th anniversar­y of historic ‘Bharat Chhodo Andolan’. “The Congress wants to please Pakistan by showing us black flags, “he said.
