Two-day workshop on sports law at DU
NEWDELHI: A two-day workshop on sports law is being conducted jointly by University of Delhi’s Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College (SGTB) and the Indian Society of International Law (ISIL) – a society that works for the promotion of legal education in India - on September 9-10.
The workshop is open to students, faculty as well as practitioners of law and will introduce attendees to some key aspects of sports law.
“Some of the key themes that will be covered in the two-day sessions will include international arbitration, anti-doping laws as well as alternative dispute resolution,” says Prof SK Verma, secretary general, ISIL.
According to Verma, sports law is still an emerging area in the field of law and not many institutions offer specialised papers in this discipline.
“SGTB is among the few institutes that offer a postgraduate diploma in this field and we decided to partner with them in order to bring those interested in this issue on a single platform,” she says.
This is the first among a series of such workshops that are likely to be arranged in the future based on the feedback of the participants, she adds.
The two-day session will include group activities, lectures, student presentations that will be based on problemsolving with the workshop concluding with a panel discussion.
Participants will receive a certificate on the successful completion of the programme.
Participants will be admitted on a first come first serve basis. The fee for the two-day workshop is ₹2500.
