JALANDHAR: District consumer disputes redressal forum has directed the Vishwkarma Enterprises JS Hayer Market, Phillaur to refund ₹2.20 lakh, price of a ‘dona’ (disposable crockery) making machine, with 12% interest per annum from October 19, 2015 for deficiency in services.

The forum has asked the firm to pay a compensation of ₹20,000 and litigation expenses of ₹5,000 to the complainant, in a month.

Barnala resident Manjinder Singh had filed a complaint on August 26, 2016.

He claimed that he had purchased a machine from the company on October 19, 2015, with a two-year warranty.

The firm had agreed to deliver the machine with 1 horse power motor, extra dyes and installation fee of ₹1,70,000.

They agreed to supply raw material as well.

“I had issued ₹ 2.20 lakh cheque in favour of the company. But they did not install the machine or supplied raw material,” Singh complained.

He contacted the company officials and requested to install the same but in vain.

They even refused to refund the advance payment and did not even reply to a court notice.

Considering the facts and documents submitted by the complainant, the forum found Singh’s complaint valid.
