Violence in UP dists bordering Haryana, alert sounded

In Ghaziabad district, dera supporters set on fire a state roadways bus and coaches of a train stationed at the An and Vi h ar railway station. They blocked vehicular traffic in Sahara np ur, Me erut,B ag ha pat and Hap ur districts. The state police sounded an alert in the districts bordering Ha ryan a and ordered crack down on the dera supporters. Taking precaution­ary measure, the railways cancelled trains to Ha ryan a and Punjab.

Railway officials said the decision to cancel the train was taken after the der a supporters targeted trains at various places in West UP. The state government imposed prohibitor­y orders in Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Baghpat districts.

ADG (law and order) Anand Kumar said, ”After widespread violence in Ha ryan a and Punjab, the police sealed the border with Haryana. Barricades have been erected and all the vehicles entering UP are being checked. Police officers have been directed to detain the der a supporters well as those whose activities is suspicious, he said. Kumar said, “The police have prepared the list of dera supporters in various districts. Their activities are being monitored and officers have been told to take action against them if they indulge in violence or try to disrupt the working of the administra­tion .” A police officer said special alert was sounded in Saharanpur, Shamli, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Na gar, Ali gar hand Ma thu ra districts.

Vigil has been also increased on the Delhi-UP border after report of violence in Delhi.
