NIA raids house of Shabir Shah's aide in Jammu

JAMMU : In an another raid to probe terror funding, National Investigat­ion Agency(NIA) on Thursday raided the house of Abdul Razak, a close aide of separatist leader Shabir Shah in Jammu and seized three arms from his possession.

A NIA team comprising of more than 20 sleuths, led by a deputy inspector general (DIG) rank officer raided the house of Razak, a property dealer in the Barnai locality of Jammu.

Shabir Shah is a separatist leader from the Valley and also the chairman of Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party.

During the raids, the NIA sleuths seized three arms — a pistol, a double-barrel gun and a .315 bore rifle — the officials said.

Razak claimed the arms were licensed but was not able to provide any documents.

The NIA has also recovered incriminat­ing documents pertaining to financial transactio­ns.

The elder daughter of Razak is pursuing her MBBS in Pakistan. As per the sources, the NIA was also investigat­ing his role in routing funds to the separatist leaders from Pakistan-based handlers.

The teams which began questionin­g at around 1pm, also carried out a thorough search of the premises.The search is still underway.

To prevent any unto ward situation, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jammu and Kashmir Police sleuths have surrounded the house and have barred entry.

RAJNATH VISIT: SEPARATIST­S GIVE SHUTDOWNCA­LL

Separatist­s in Kashmir on Thursday called for a complete shutdown on September 10 when Union home minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to visit the state.

In a joint statement Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik urged people of Kashmir to “observe complete shutdown” on Singh’s visit.

“By observing the strike, people of Kashmir will prove to the world community and the Indian leadership that by using military might against the people or harassing the leadership, people’s movement in Kashmir can not be crushed,” the statement said.

The statement added, “Under a well-planned conspiracy to defame the Kashmiri leadership and the ongoing sacred movement for freedom on the directions of Indian home ministry, NIA has been assigned the job of harassing and intimidati­ng Kashmiri pro-freedom leaders, their families, friends, and business community.”

YASINMALIK­HELD

Meanwhile, ahead of their scheduled courting arrest at the NIA headquarte­rs in Delhi on Saturday, Malik was arrested while Mirwaiz Farooq was put under house arrest on Thursday morning.

In a statement on Thursday, the moderate Hurriyat faction which is led by the Mirwaiz said that “caging Mirwaiz time and again reflects the frustratio­n on part of the authoritie­s and acceptance of defeat by the ruling government in Jammu and Kashmir”.

The HP government has reportedly asked the Central Bureau of Investigat­ion (CBI) to foot a bill of approximat­ely ₹12 lakh for the logistics provided to it by the state government for probing theKo tkhai rape and murder case. CBI has so far questioned more than 300 people in this regard.
