ROHTAK: The 26-year-old West Bengal woman who was found dead with bullet injuries in a Rohtak canal was killed for resisting gangrape bid by four men, police said on Saturday, revealing more gory details about the gruesome incident that occurred on September 7.

The police arrested two out of the four rapists on Saturday and took them on remand for four days from a local court. The two were identified as Amit and Ajeet, both residents of Jind.

The police said Amit and Ajeet, along with their friends MeetaandRohit, consumedalcohol in Jind on September 7. They then went to Gohana and contacted Jaiveer, who ran a prostitution racket at his house and had taken the victim and her friend hostage.

Thefour men raped thevictim and her friend at Jaiveer’s house. They then “bought” the victim for Rs 5,000 from Jaiveer and took her to their room in Jind, where they gangraped her multiple times again. Later in the day, Meeta had a quarrel with the victim and asked his friends to take her back to Gohana and bring a new girl instead, the police said.

“While Amit and Ajeet were taking the victim back to Gohana, Meeta and Rohit came back and changed their mind. They decided to rape the victim again at a secluded place near the canal, but when she resisted, they shot her dead and threw her body in the canal,” inspector Rajbeer Singh, said.

Earlier, the victim’s friend, who had managed to flee the custody of Jaiveer had reached out to cops with details of her ordeal.

The police conducted a raid in Gohana and busted a prostitution racket being run by Jaiveer and two other women. The police said attempts were on to nab Meeta and Rohit.
