GURMEET RAM RAHIM HAS BEEN LODGED IN THIS JAIL SINCE HE WAS SENTENCED TO 20YEAR IMPRISONMENT IN RAPE CASE

ROHTAK: Rohtak’s Sunaria jail, where Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singhis currently lodged, has been ranked low in terms of security parameters in a recent performance indicator survey of the Haryana prisons department.

The survey, which analysed 19 jails on 32 parameters, has put the Rohtak jail at the third spot from the bottom, only ahead of the Jind and Hisar-2 jails.

The survey gave zero out of five marks to the Rohtak jail for no CCTV coverage of areas such as barracks, the entire boundary wall, hospital, canteen, main gate etc.

It gave another zero to the jail for no installation of mobile jammers.

The Rohtak jail has been infamous for several incidents where mobile phones have been recovered from prisoners.

In May this year, the police had recovered 10 mobile phones, two SIM cards and six mobile chargers, besides opium and cannabis from inside the jail in a surprise inspection.

The survey gave another zero to the jail staff for not keeping a check on such activities by making no recoveries on their own.

Ram Rahim was brought to Sunaria jail on August 25 after a special CBI court convicted him of raping two of his female disciples. Sources in the police and administration said he was brought here because he had comparatively less followers in Rohtak.
