Capt’s 6 months in office have been that of betrayal, says BJP

Launching an attack on the Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government, which completed six months in office on Saturday, the Punjab unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) flayed it for “failing to fulfil” its pre-poll promises.

Addressing a press conference here, BJP state secretary Vineet Joshi and vice-president Harjit Grewal said farmers, Dalits and women were feeling cheated under the Congress rule. They said the Congress made tall promises, including waving farmer loans, drug eradication within a month, job for each household ,₹2,500 unemployment allowance, smart phones for youth and ₹1,500 pension for the elderly, but none of the promise has been fulfilled.

“Amarinder’s six months in office have been that of betrayal, shattered dreams and false hope. During these 180 days, if Am arinder and his ministers have achieved something, it is indulging in political vendetta, atrocities on Dalits, gangwars, power cuts, protests, road jams, atrocities on women and spurt in sacrilege incidents ,” they claimed.

“State farmers have lost all hope from the government. At least 237 farmers have committed suicide in Captain’s 180-day rule. A farmer of Tedakalan village in Ajnala tehsil, Major Singh, in his suicide note has held the Congress government responsible for his plight,” said Joshi.

Already hurt by Congress’ betrayal, the people of Punjab are now facing the brunt of government’s ministers, who are neglectingtheir departments, he
