SUKHBIR HAS NO MORAL RIGHT TO QUESTION GOVT IN 6 MONTHS

-

Chandigarh Congress MLAs on Saturday lashed out at Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal for calling the Congress government a “failure” in first six months. In a statement, Congress MLAs said Sukhbir had “no moral right” to question the performance of the Congress government in just six months.

“Over the past 10 years, the SAD-BJP ruined the state economically socially and politically. Sukhbir is trying to hide his own failures. by diverting attention from his misdeeds and misgovernance. This will the main issue in Gurdaspur Lok Sabha bypoll,” Congress MLAs Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Sukh Sarkaria, Harpartap Singh Ajnala, Brinderjit Singh Pahra, Tarsem Singh DC, Dharambir Agnihotri said in a statement.

They also said that Sukhbir is “not the leader of Opposition nor has the political stature” to judge any government. “He has been rejected by people and pushed to margins. Thus, he is not entitled to pass any judgment over working of the government. Why does Sukhbir not cite examples of how many hospitals, colleges, schools, roads he built or improved. The national highways were sanctioned by the Centre and the airports he claims to have created are partially functional. Scams of public works, irrigation, local government have been unearthed. He is guilty of promoting drug culture, police high-handedness, unemployment, suicides of farmers and accumulating wealth by looting the state,” they claimed.

The MLAs said anyone should not judge the government just six months in the saddle, as state is facing acute financial crisis and the introduction of GST had hit revenue flow. “Give the Congress a year at least, to clear the muck created by Akalis in Punjab,” they added.
