DFSO jumps into canal, 4 booked

PATIALA: District food and civil supplies officer (DFSO) Kamaldeep Singh, 42, committed suicide by jumping into the Bhakra Narwana branch near Rorewal bridge on Wednesday morning, the police have claimed.

The body of Gill had not been recovered till the filing of the report, but police have booked four people based on his suicide note.

Gill’s Hyundai Verna PB 11BX3090 was found by the canal in Patiala district. A bottle of liquor and glasses were also found.

Investigating officer Gurnam Singh said, “The family members of Gill have claimed that he was under depression as unnecessary inquiries had been ordered against him. The suicide note names four people .”

A case has been registered under Sections 306 (abetment to suicide) of the IPC against Harpreet Singh, Manjeet Singh, SP Sharma and Harjit Singh of Fatehgarh Sahib district. HTC
