ROHTAK Countering claims of the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak, the district police on Wednesday said the cameras installed at the gynaecology ward of the hospital — from where a newborn went missing on Sunday last — have not been working for the past five months.

The hospital had earlier claimed all their CCTV cameras were working.

“The biggest hurdle in our investigation is the dysfunctional CCTV cameras.

Had they been working, we would have got some leads by now,” said deputy superintendent of police Ravinder Singh, who is leading the probe team in the case.

The police had announced Rs 50,000 for information leading to the newborn’s recovery, but have not been able to make any progress so far.

Meanwhile, the family members of the missing baby, who have been sitting on a dharna for the past one week outside the hospital, blocked a major city road near Ashoka Chowk on Wednesday evening.

They demanded director Dr Rakesh Gupta be suspended and case be transferred to a special investigation team (SIT).
