Businessman shot at twice trying to resist robbery bid
NEWDELHI:A 36-year-old businessmanwasshotattwiceonMonday night when he tried to resist two bike-bornerobbersinnorthwest Delhi’s Shakurpur area.
Thevictim,ManojYadav,who installs GPS in vehicles, said he was shot in the robbery attempt ataround9.45pmwheretwomen triedtotakehisgoldchain,bracelet and cash.
The first bullet pierced through his stomach, while the other went through his right shoulder, said police.
Threedaysafterthecrime,the northwest district police have so far failed to identify or arrest either of the alleged assailants.
Yadav,speakingtoHindustan Times on the phone, said that he didnotprotestwhentheytookhis gold chain. “The robber wanted my gold bracelet and told me to take it off. When I said it would notcome off, he tried removing it himself.”
“After I resisted, the robber tookoutapistolandtriedtoshoot me. His first two attempts failed and I assumed he was either carrying a toy or that the gun malfunctioned. Four to five persons were present nearby. This encouragedmeandItriedtofight the robbers off,” said Yadav.
However,therobbersfiredtwo more rounds that hit Yadav. Waiving pistols to scare away bystanders,therobbersthenfled on their motorcycle.
Eyewitnesseshelpedhimashe lay on the road bleeding, he said. He alleged that they had acted like“mute”spectatorsduringthe robbery.
