BJP NOMINEE HAS ASSETS OF OVER ~500 CR, BANKS ON MODI

BJP’s Swaran Salaria was accompanied by ally SAD’s president and former deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, state BJP president Vijay Sampla, BJP’s state affairs in-charge Prabhat Jha, when he filed his nomination at the DC office for the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha bypoll on Friday.

He declared assets worth more than Rs 500 crore.

“I will contest elections on the basis of the policies of the central government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s enthusiasm and commitment for national development is unmatchable. Congress is a party of liars,” he said.

Vinod Khanna’s wife Kavita Khanna, who was also in fray for the ticket, declared support for Salaria whom she accompanied. “I respect the decision of the party high command and wish him good luck. I will wholeheartedly support him, and we will definitely win.”

Both Jakhar and Salaria showcased their strength at public rallies before the filing of nominations. While the Congress had a bigger gathering at a ground of the local improvement trust, after supporters were called from all over the state, the BJP and SAD shared the stage at a banquet hall.

In all, 14 candidates have filed nominations.
