Dhesi bats for AmritsarLondon direct flight

-

CHANDIGARH: UK’s member of parliament Tanmanjit Singh Dhesi has pitched for ensuring direct flight between London and Amritsar, a long-pending demand of the Punjabi diaspora since direct flights to holy city were cancelled years back.

In a statement, Dhesi, who is UK’ s first turbaned Sikh MP, said he had a detailed meeting with Tara Naidu, Air India head of Europe operations in West London. The MP urged her to reinstate direct flights from UK to Amritsar. He suggested that there are three daily direct flights between Heath row and Delhi and one of these could be extended to Amritsar so that people from northern states could also benefit from direct connectivity with Europe.
