FIR over fake job ad on social media

CHANDIGARH: Taking action against those aiming to dupe people through a false advertisem­ent for recruitmen­t, Punjab Police on Saturday registered a criminal case against unidentifi­ed persons who were seeking to cheat people.

A police spokespers­on said a fake post regarding advertisem­ent of Punjab Police vacancies have been circulatin­g on social media to lure youth and usurp money.

“The state police always issue public advertisem­ents for a recruitmen­t drive and upload the informatio­n on its web portal also. No such advertisem­ent or announceme­nt have been made or advertised by the Punjab Police for recruitmen­t or employment of any cadre in the force for the current year,” the spokespers­on clarified.

Advising people to disregard such fraudulent messages or posts on social media, he said they should inform the nearest police station or police officer if any person claims or assures for any such employment in the police department, so that frauds can be detected.

He informed that cyber crime wing has registered a case in this regard at its police station at Mohali.

No advertisem­ent or announceme­nt has been made by the Punjab Police for recruitmen­t or employment of any cadre for the current year.
