Ahead of the third game in Indore, David Warner has suggested a new mantra to tackle the spinnersin themiddleovers and that is to get a good start.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Warner said, “If you get off to a good start and the spinners come on, it is a different ball game. The tempo is different. In the middle overs against spinners, you have to rotate strike and minimise damage.”
Australia have struggled to string decent opening partnerships in the first two ODIs. In the rain-curtailed match in Chen nai, the opening stand managed only 15 while in Kolkata, it was 2. Warner said that a combination of great Indian bowling and lack of rhythm on their part was hurting Australia.
“It was difficult to get going in the first couple of overs in both games. As an opening bats man, it was hard to get any kind of rhythm. The Indians bowled an exceptional spell. In the last 12 months, we have had batting collaps es. There are no answers ,” Warner said.
