RELIGION NOT A TOOL TO DIVIDE PEOPLE

-

Our politicians are bent on dividing the nation on religious lines. The West Bengal chief minister issued orders asking a community not to celebrate their festival because another community was also to hold celebrations that day. Now, the court has quashed the orders and the CM’ s statement is shocking, wherein she has refused to take responsibility for clashes or violence that may result. It is clear that the West Bengal government wanted to

appease the minority community that forms 27% of voters, even as it knew that courts will not allow this to happen as we area secular state. Festivals will continue to be celebrated as they have been done since ages, but politicians have damaged the delicate fabric of trust between communities. We expect action from the central govt against the CM who is defying court orders. The only real loser in such a scenario is the common man. Kamal Arora, Panchkula
