Panipat man electrocut­ed teen daughter: Cops

KARNAL: A day after a 17-year-old girl was found dead at Joshi village of Panipat district, police said the girl’ s father has admitted to electrocut­ing the teen.

The police have arrested the father, Suresh Kumar, and his brother Sham Lal for allegedly killing and cremating the girl’s body. The matter came to light when an unidentifi­ed person informed the police about the incident, suspecting honour killing as her body was cremated early in the morning on Friday.

Soon after the police received the anonymous call, a forensic team reached the spot and collected samples of the remains and sent it for testing.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Pa nip at D SP Bali Singh said that during the interrogat­ion, the accused admitted to have killed the girl by giving her an electric shock. “But the actual cause of the death can be ascertaine­d only after the forensic science laboratory (FSL) report is received,” he added. The DSP added that the girl’s father and uncle have been arrested under Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappeara­nce of evidence of offence) of the Indian Pen al Code and produced in the court.

Later during interrogat­ion, they admitted to have killed the girl.
