KJ ALPHONS MADE AN INSENSITIVE STATEMENT

This refers to ‘Does Alphons have any grasp over economics?’ (Sunday Sentiments, September 24) by Karan Thapar. People elect representatives expecting that their welfare will be looked after. But if the prices keep on rising, it becomes difficult for the common man to spend on essential requirements. The Modi government has raised the price of fuel more than 10 times. Instead of applying a balm, tourism minister KJ Alphons made an insensitive statement that those who can afford to pay have to pay. The minister’s arrogance has lost him the sympathy of citizens.
