Ambulance carrying accident victims hits stray cow, driver hurt

NABHA : In another case of road accident due to stray cattle, an ambulance van driver was seriously hurt on Sunday on the Circular road here. The civil hospital Barn ala van was carrying two accident victims from Barn ala to the PGIMER, Chandigarh.

The van got off the road and ram med into a high-voltage electricit­y pole after hitting as tray cow. As the van hit the pole, it resulted in power outage in the area. Residents woke up after hearing the loud sound and rushed to the site. The people, who reached there, dialled 108 to call an ambulance on the spot.

The eye witnesses said that the driver window had to be broken to bring the injured driver out.

The rescued ambulance driver, Gurjant Singh, said that he noticed that the injured driver had fractures in his legs and pieces of windowpane had hit his eyes. The Barn ala van was carrying a couple, victim sofa road accident in Barnala. Besides the couple, there were two children of the couple and two other relatives. One of the couple’ s relatives was also suffered a head injury. The cow also died on the spot.

The Nabha ambulance took the injured driver and others to Raj end ra Hospital in Pa ti ala from where they all were taken to PGIMER, Chandigarh.

The electricit­y board employees said that it was 11,000KV load power line. Had the power not tripped, it could have resulted in a far worse accident.
