DEFENCE MINISTER’S OCCUPATIONS

It’s been a while that Nirmala Sitharaman took charge as defence minister, but all these days we’ve seen her engaging in photo ops shaking hands with soldiers and sitting inside the cockpit of fighter jets. She did not think of visiting ordnance factories or defence public sector undertakings (PSUs) or any zila sainik board. The minister, instead of visiting cantonment and air force stations, should visit armament manufacturing units and assess their contribution in building defence capabilities. DS Thukral, Ambala
