CONSTITUTION BENCH TO DECIDE ON PARSI IDENTITY
NEWDELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday referred the contentious issue — whether a Parsi woman ceases to be a Parsi Zoroastrian on account of her marriage to a non Parsi — to be decided by a constitution bench of five judges. The bench was hearing a petition filed by one Goolrakh Gupta, a Parsi Zoroastrian, married to a Hindu man challenging the Gujarat high court verdict that said the petitioner ceased to be a Parsi Zoroastrian on account of her marriage to a non-Parsi even though she continued practising Zoroastrian religion.
