Vipassana fails to turn up before cops
PANCHKULA: Dera Sacha Sauda chairperson Vipassana Insan did not turn up before the Panchkula police on Tuesday, citing medical grounds.
The local police had summoned her for questioning in connection with its ongoing probe into the August 25 Panchkula violence in the wake of conviction of dera head Gurmeet Ram Ra him Sing hf or ra ping two of his female disciples.
Panchkula deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Manbir Singh told Hindustan Times that Vipassana had sent a message through someone claiming that she could not come due to asthmatic condition. She has again been sent a notice for her appearance on Thursday
“Her questioning is vital in our ongoing probe. We will see what can be done if she does not appear again,” he said
Sources said the police are also verifying whether Vipassana had faked her ill health to avoid police probe.

The ongoing interrogation of Honeypreet, the “adopted” daughter of the Ram Rahim, has revealed that Vipassana was part of a meeting that took place in the dera on August 17, wherein planning was made to spread arson in Panchkula, in case of the sect head’s conviction.
The police suspect that Vipassana, being the administrative head of the dera, might be privy to the conspiracy behind the violence. She is to be questioned to dig out more details on how violence was executed in Panchkula.
As many as 35 people were killed and 250 were injured in Panchkula soon after the dera chief was convicted by a special CBI court on August 25. Since then police have arrested 1,100 people in connection with rioting.
On August 28, the dera chief was sentenced to 20-year rigorous imprisonment — 10 years for the rape of each sadhvi — and is currently undergoing the sentence in Rohtak’s Sunaria jail.
