HONEYPREET’S MOBILE, LAPTOP WITH VIPASSANA: POLICE
PANCHKULA: The role of Dera Sacha Sauda chairperson Vipassana Insan in connection with Panchkula violence is getting murkier with each passing day. Sources in the police department confirmed to Hindustan Times on Thursday that Honeypreet, the adopted daughter of jailed dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, had handed over her mobile phone to Vipassana before leaving the dera on August 27, two days after violence erupted in Panchkula.
Police are making desperate attempts to trace Honeypreet’s mobile as it believed to have crucial details about her involvement in spreading violence. Police also believes that Honeypreet’s laptop, which is likely to have important information about the conspiracy, is with Vipassana.
“Honeypreet told police that she had left her laptop in her room and added if it wasn’t found there, it must be with Vipassana since is the administrative head of the dera,” said a senior official on the condition of anonymity. “We also checked with the court commissioner appointed by the Punjab and Haryana high court to search the dera, but there was no trace of her laptop,” he added. In its recent remand paper submitted before the local court, police claimed that Honeypreet’s mobile and laptop have crucial information her involvement as a conspirator. Police claim that laptops has details of fielding of the dera members in Panchkula and mapping of the city. It further claimed that Honeypreet had posted a video of Panchkula violence from her mobile, which further nailed her role as a conspirator in the violence. However, Honeypreet’s defence counsel has denied her involvement in any manner in inciting violence.
WAS IN RAJASTHAN FOR 17 DAYS
Honeypreet reportedly stayed in and around Sri Gursar Modia, the dera in Rajasthan’s Ganganagar district for 17 days, police officials have said. Sources said she stayed in nearby Ladhuwala, Gill Ki Dhani and Kaur Ki Dhani villages. “She has agreed to have been living in Rajasthan,” said police sources.
The police have taken pictures and sketches of places where Honeypreet took shelter. It will be used as evidence to corroborate her hideouts.
Honeypreet will be produced in the court on Friday. Police have not ruled out seeking an extension of her remand. The local court has already granted her nine days of remand.
