SIT begins scrutinisi­ng untraced reports

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana government on Thursday told the Punjab and Haryana high court that the SIT, headed by inspector general of police (IGP), Hisar range, Amitabh Singh Dhillon has started scrutinisi­ng untraced reports prepared by local police in Rohtak district on FIRs registered into Jat quota violence of February 2016.

“Each SP has identified 25 important cases from amongst those allocated for supervisio­n of investigat­ion. It was informed by police officials that the case files had been obtained from the concerned police stations and allocated to investigat­ing officers under their supervisio­n. SP Sirsa is in the process of obtaining these files,” Dhillon told the court.

The SIT is scrutinisi­ng 1,105 FIRs including 921 cases in which untraced repots were prepared, but not filed and 184 cases, which are still under investigat­ion.

A total of 1,212 FIRs were registered for arson during Jat quota violence in Rohtak district in 2016.
