JEM MILITANT INVOLVED IN GRENADE ATTACK HELD IN PULWAMA
SRINAGAR: A militant wanted in a recent grenade attack on a senior state minister was arrested by security forces insouth Kashmir’s Pulwa ma on Friday, police said.
Gulzar Dar was apprehended in Tral area during a joint operation by the police, army and CRPF. A police spokesperson said Dar was a member of terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).
Awantipora SP Mohd Zaid said, “Dar was involved in a grenade attack on a motorcade, which included the vehicle of public works minister Naeem Akhtar. Prior to this, he was involved in another grenade attack in 2014. Were covered a pistol from him .”
On September 21, three people were killed and at least 30 injured after suspected militants lobbed a grenade towards a motorcade.
The spokesperson said Dar admitted that “He hurled the grenade on the instructions of JeM commander Mufti Vikas, resident of PAK and Noor Mohammad Tantray, resident of Dar ganie Gund Tral ”. Police said Dar admitted“his four associates( foreign terrorists) are in a hideout in Pastuna forest Tral”.
“Accordingly, a search operation was launched. During searches, terrorists in the hideout fired upon the search party. The fire was retaliated but taking advantage of the dense forest, terrorists managed to escape from the hideout,” he said.
