4 who robbed Gurgaon man of bike, money arrested

GURGAON: Four people were arrested for robbing a man of his motorcycle and money in Sector 9A and sent to jail on Sunday, the police said.

Acting on a tip-off, the personnel of Sector 9A police station on Friday nabbed four who were allegedly involved in snatching ₹22,000 and a bike from a man at gunpoint.

Following a complaint by the victim, a team was immediatel­y rushed to the spot.

The four accused have been identified as Saabir, a resident of Palwal, Chand, a resident of Jharkhand, Shakir, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, and Bijender, of Rewari in Haryana.

A case under Section 379 A (theft) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 25-54-59 (for possessing unlicensed rifle) of Arms Act was registered.

The accused were produced before a court on Saturday and as per the court direction, sent to Bhondsi jail on Sunday.

During questionin­g, the accused confessed to their crime, the police said.

“We got informatio­n of the accused’s location and a team was sent to search the spot. We are scanning more cases of snatching in the area,” said Raj Pal, assistant sub-inspector, Sector 9A police station.

Cases of snatching of vehicles at gunpoint are on a rise in the city.
