Robbers target two petrol pumps, loot cash, mobile phones

Carborne miscreants on the prowl in Jalandhar, three loot incidents in two days, cops grope in the dark

JALANDHAR: Even as the police struggle to solve snatching and theft cases, robbers continue to target people here.

Robbers in a Swift Dzire car looted cash and two mobile phones in Phillaur late Saturday night.

The miscreants stole ₹17,300 and two mobiles at gunpoint from Preet Basant fuel station employees in Khehra village on GT road.

In another fuel station robbery on Friday, robbers looted ₹9,800 and two mobiles from the employees at Bahua village near Behram town on Jalandhar-Chandigarh highway.

Fuel station employee, Narinder Pal told the police that four armed persons with covered faces stepped out of a Swift Dzire, without a registrati­on number, and thrashed the petrol pump employees. They robbed ₹17,300 and two mobile phones from us and fled, said Pal.

In another incident, a Swift car-borne robber looted a gold chain and ₹1,000 from Gurpinder Singh of Khera Majha, Lambra at gunpoint.

In his complaint, Gurpinder said that he was going to his village on a bike. “When I crossed the Helran road, a Swift car stopped in front of my bike,” he said. He alleged that a man pointing a weapon at him looted gold chain and money from him.

In both the incidents, a case under Section 379-B (snatching) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered. Superinten­dent of police (SP- investigat­ion) Balkar Singh said that in both incidents, robbers are same.

He said, “There are no CCTV cameras at Phillaur fuel station. We took the footage from SBS Nagar police station.”

The accused will be arrested soon, superinten­dent of police Balkar Singh said.

PREVIOUS CASES

On October 16, three bike-borne armed assailants looted a Swift car from a brick kiln manager at Rampur village. Before looting the car, robbers also loote d cash from a liquor vend in Nakodar and attempted to rob a car from another commuter.

On October 9, a Honda city car was looted by two robbers from a software engineer Kanav Narula at Mehli village on the Jalandhar-Chandigarh highway but the police are yet to make headway.
