MISPLACED PRIORITIES

-

Apropos to the editorial ‘Mindless development is crippling Indian cities’ (HT, October 19). Builders who have a nexus with politicians and bureaucrats are interested in making quick money. Besides this, criminal elements also claim their share in development projects. This results in compromising with the quality of construction and complete disregard for aspects like water harvesting, storm and flood water management, drainage and sewerage. Environment is the ultimate sufferer and impact of natural calamities is stronger. We need to adopt cor-

rective measures at the earliest. Subhash Vaid, via email
