Tarn Taran cops seize 5L drug pills, show only 1.15 lakh in FIR

TARNTARAN: In August this year, the police claimed of busting a drug smuggling racket.

Police had arrested an alleged wholesale dealer—Satish Kumar of Tarn Taran — with five lakh drug medicines. But as per the first informatio­n report (FIR), a recovery of only 1.15 lakh was shown.

On August 9, SSP Darshan Singh Mann said “On August 8, anti narcotics cell in-charge, sub-inspector Manjinder Singh and DSP Tarn Taran, Ashwini Kumar, recovered 1,15,000 drug medicines from Hyundai i20 car of one Satish Kumar from Amandeep Avenue ”. His accomplice Lakshman fled from the spot. The team recovered 3,85,000 drug medicines from Satish’s home.

The cops recovered 10,000 Primyvon Spas capsules, 2,70,000 Etizolam tablets, 2,20,000 Tramadol tablets, ₹80,000 cash and a Hyundai i20 car. But as per the FIR (a copy of which is with HT), Satish was arrested with only 1,15,000 medicines. The FIR does not show recovery of cash.

The second accused Lakshman was granted bail on October 10. Lakshman said, “Why only 1.5 lakhw as shown in the FIR. Something is fishy.”

SSP Mann said, “We recovered 1,15,000 drug medicines and FIR was registered on that basis. The accused will be convicted based on the recovery of 5 lakh drugs.
