Rakesh Asthana promoted as Special Director in CBI

NEWDELHI: The government on Sunday promoted CBI additional director Rakesh Asthana to the next rank of special director. The cabinet committee on appointment cleared Asthana’s name along with seven other IPS officers of the 1984 batch. Besides, the committee also approved promotion of Arvind Kumar and Gurbachan Singh (both Intelligence Bureau officials), Deepak Mishra and Sudeep Lakhtakia (both in CRPF), AP Maheshwari and Rajesh Ranjan (both in BSF) and S Javeed Ahmed to the rank of special director general.
