None booked in Mansa truck operator’s ‘harassment’ case

MANSA: More than a month-and-ahalf after a truck operator alleged harassment by members of a local truck union in Sardulgarh, Mansa, the district police have failed to register a case against the accused.
Sham Lal, a Mansa-based truck operator had alleged that his sand-laden truck was way laid in S ar du lg a rh by members of the local truck union. He added that they also offloaded the sand at a local gurdwara.
L al had approached D SP, S ardu lg a rh, who reportedly ensured him that his truck will be returned.
However, when his truck was returned, along with the sand, he had to spend around ₹20,000 on repair works because the union members had allegedly damaged the truck.
When contacted, Gursharan Singh, DSP( detective ), who is the investigating officer, said, “Despite repeated reminders, the accused have not bothered to visit my office. Hence, I have not been able to finish the probe. Moreover, I was busy with other official assignments,” said.
He added the accused have not even recorded their statements, despite several reminders.

However, when contacted, senior superintendent of police, Parambir Singh Parmar, said the probe was completed after the police managed to retrieve the sandladen truck and handed it over to the complainant. “There was no need to register a case because our officer managed to retrieve the truck which was waylaid by the accused,” he said.
