CHANDIGARH: The Ha ryan a assembly on Wednesday admitted a privilege motion against Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) legislator from Hathin after he accused BJP chief whip and Panchkula MLA Gian Chand Gupta of illegally collecting ₹300 each from rehriwalas in his constituency.

Pandemonium erupted in the House with the treasury benches strongly refuting MLA Kehar Singh’s allegations as baseless.

During the calling attention notice moved by his party ML As on recruitment in C and D groups, Singh said he had doubts about the fairness in the recruitments claiming it was common knowledge in Panchkula that the local M LA( Gupta) collected ₹300 each from rehriwalas.

A seemingly agitated Gupta, who sought evidence to support the claim, was immediately joined by his party MLAs Nayab Saini, Pawan Saini, Mulchand S harm a and agriculture minister OP Dhankar. They demanded apology from Singh.

Parliamentary affairs minister Ram Bilas Sharma also repeatedly asked Singh to take back his words or give any evidence. Singh was joined by his party MLAs Jaswinder Singh Sandhu, Parminder Dhull, Naseem Ahmed and Ra vin der Singh who instead asked the government to get the matter probed.

Ruckus prevailed in the House for more than 15 minutes following which deputy speaker Santosh Yadav admitted the privilege motion proposed by BJP MLA Shyam Singh Rana and read out by Sharma.

Singh is the third MLA who is facing privilege motion after Congress MLAs Karan Dalal and Kuldeep Sharma. While Dalal had alleged that 30% share of the crop insurance scheme was going in the pocket of ministers, Kuldeep Sharma said some people were doing illegal mining under the patronage of the state government.

‘TO ISSUE APPOINTMENT LETTERS TO 6,142 CLERKS IN A WEEK’ TIME’

The chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar in his reply to the notice said: “Hamarisarkarnenaukari yon mein jo khel hota tha, usko khatm kardiyahai (Our government has done away with the games people played in recruitments).’’

Claiming that the government will issue appointment letters to 6,142 clerks in a week’s time, he said the new system of recruitment introduced by his government would lead to transparency recruitments. He said the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HS SC) had since 2015 conducted written examinations for 40,860 posts and the results for 13,089 posts had been declared, whereas interviews had been held for 15,445 posts.

The scrutiny of applications for another 8,690 posts had been completed, he said, adding that the Ha ryan a Public Service Commission( HP SC) had also made recruitments for 1,400 posts.

He said while 95,000 persons were provided employment in large and medium enterprises, 2.18 lakh were provided employment in small-scale industries. He said of a total of 442 memorandums of understanding( Mo Us) signed during the Global Investors’ Summit in 2016, work on 161 MoUs had been started and it would provide employment to more than 2 lakh people.
