Now, Karnal police bring UP gangster on production warrant
POLICE SAY THOUGH THEY HAVE NO EVIDENCE OF GANGSTER’S DIRECT INVOLVEMENT, HE HAS CLOSE LINK WITH ONE OF THE ACCUSED
KARNAL : After failing to make any arrest in the murder of Haryanvi folk singer Harshita Dahiya, the Panipat police have brought a gangster Irfan Khan alias Imran on the production warrant for interrogation.
Police officials said though they did not have any evidence about his direct involvement in the 22-year-old folk singer’s murder but they had information that he has a close association with one of the accused.
Panipat police spokesperson Anil Kumar said Irfan, a resident of Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh, was lodged in Delhi’s Rohini jail for the past few months in an arms case, and he was brought here on the production warrant on Tuesday.
Kumar said Irfan was produced in court and sent on twoday police remand. However, he did not disclose whether he gave any clue about the accused.
Harshita’s jailed brother-inlaw Dinesh Karala, who was brought on production warrant from Jhajjar jail by the police, had admitted that he had hired criminals Kuldeep Singh alias Fazza of Naya Bans in Delhi, Jitender Gogi of Alipur in Delhi and Rohit Kumar of Moi village in Sonepat to execute the mur- der. Though four teams have been formed to arrest them they have failed to get any information about their whereabouts.
Harshita was on her way back after performing at Chamrara village of the district on October 17 when two men stopped her vehicle and pumped six bullets into her neck and forehead. She died on the spot, according to the police.
Panipat superintendent of police Rahul Sharma could not be contacted after repeated attempts.
