MANI G AM( GAN DER B AL ): Jam mu and Kashmir chief minister Mehboob a Mufti on Wednesday urged police personnel not to attack families of militants.

Speaking at the passing out parade of recruits at the Police Training Centre in Ganderbal district, she said: “Do not attack families of militants just because they (militants) attack families of policemen. You must maintain the difference.”

“We are not in competition with militants that they ransack our houses we will do the same, we will kill militants but for killing militancy we need to win hearts,’’ she added.

Also, the CM advised Police, that efforts should be made to persuade alienated youth to join back the mainstream society rather than going for a violent friction.

Hailing the Centre’s decision to start the dialogue process in the state as a major step towards reconciliation and public outreach, Mehbooba asked the police to ensure the success of the process by providing a congenial atmosphere on the ground.

Lauding the role of the Police in maintaining law and order in the state, she said over the past years so many young officers and jawans of the force, besides men from army and other security forces, have laid their lives for maintaining peace in the state, while maintaining patience.

Around 700 jaw ans passed out on Wednesday from the school after going through the basic training. (with agency inputs)
