GURGAON: A cleaner and greener Gurgaon, where pollution levels are within permissible limits, is the goal of newly elected deputy mayor Sunita Yadav.

Yadav, who is into her second term as a councillor, was elected on a BJP ticket. She understands the nitty gritty of urban governance and her priority is to ensure that the Bandhwari waste treatment plant becomes functional at the earliest.

Yadav is also batting for the implementation of an effective waste collection and segregation system. “There is too much dust pollution in this city and it is killing us. There is a need to set up systems to prevent pollution. We also need to enhance our public transport system, particularly the bus service, in order to cut vehicular pollution,” Yadav said.

“Getting the city bus service launched will be an important step in checking pollution as it will reduce the number of private vehicles and noxious fumee mitting diesel autorickshaws,” Yadav said.
