Ryan juvenile accused sent to observation home
GURGAON: The Gurgaon juvenile justice board on Saturday sent the class 11 student of Ryan International School who has been apprehended for the murder of an eight-year-old boy to an observation home in Faridabad till November 22.
The juvenile was produced before the board by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after completion of his three-day remand. The agency did not seek an extension of his custody as it said custodial interrogation was completed. The juvenile was arrested on Wednesday by the agency in connection with the murder of eight-year-old Pradhyumn Thakur, who was found dead with his throat slit outside the washroom of the school on September 8. After the CBI submitted to the court that it had completed its investigation, principal judge Devender Kumar directed that the juvenile be sent to an observational home in Faridabad till November 22.
The board also allowed the father of the juvenile to speak to him for around 10 minutes.
The CBI in its application submitted to the board stated: “That on the basis of minute inspection of the scene of crime, analysis of CCTV footage and movement of the students near the scene of crime on the day of incident, reconstruction of sequence of events on that day, questioning students, teachers, staff and other employees of the school, the CBI on November 7, identified and apprehended the juvenile in conflict with law. He has admitted his involvement in committing the murder of master Pradhyumn Thakur on September 8. That the custodial interrogation of the child in conflict with law is almost complete and he is no more required in police custody. At present, he may be sent to an observation home. The IO may seek further police custody of the child in conflict with law within 15 days if need be.”
Sandeep Aneja, the lawyer of the juvenile, said that the board directed that the juvenile be sent to the observation home. The defence team also submitted an application to board regarding violation of the norms set with respect to interrogating the juvenile accused by the CBI. The father of the accused boy alleged that his son was being framed by the agency as there was no evidence against him to Ryan school where the crime scene was recreated and videotaped.
