Stubble burning: AAP accuses Cong, Akalis of betraying farmers
TWO PREVIOUS GOVTS BROUGHT A BAD NAME TO FARMERS BY NOT SPENDING A SINGLE PAISA OUT OF ₹100 CR CENTRAL ALLOCATION FOR CROP RESIDUE MANAGEMENT, THE AAP HAS CLAIMED
CHANDIGARH: The Aam Aadmi Party(AAP)onMondayaccused the Capt Amarinder Singh-led Congress government and the previous Akali-BJP regime of deceiving the state farmers and neglecting the health of people of the state.
In a statement, AAP MLAs Aman Arora, Sarabjit Kaur, Kultar Singh Randhawa, Nazar Singh Manshahia, Rupinder Kaur Ruby and Meet Hayer alleged that these two successive governments brought a bad nameto farmers by not spending even a single paisa out of ₹100 crore allocated by the Centre for crop residue management.
“The two governments have been exposed by the Union agriculture ministry which allocated ₹49.80 crore in 2016-17 and ₹48.5 crore in 2017-18 for proper disposal of stubble, but neither Akalis nor the present Congress government utilised the funds to help farmers,” said the AAP legislators.
They sought an explanation from the CMregarding thefunds released during his tenure, besides urging him to institute a time-bound inquiry into the role of the previous government.
