ODISHA COUPLE HELD IN BHIWANI FOR FRAUD

ROHTAK: In a joint exercise, the Odisha Police and the Bhiwani Police arrested a couple on the charge of duping the Public Works Department (PWD) of around Rs 12 crore in many districts by winning tenders on forged documents and fleeing the state without completing any work.

The police said Bunty Aggarwal, his wife Sabita and father Rajender Prasad ran a firm by the name of Suraj Enterprise­s. The firm is accused of submitting false term deposit receipts (TDRs) to bag contracts of several government department­s.

According to reports in the ocal Odisha media, the couple had committed a forgery of Rs 12 crore in Bolangir, Kalahandi, Nuapada and Kantabanji districts. Verificati­on by government department­s had revealed that the firm had submitted 48 fake TDRs to win different contracts. An FIR was registered against the firm on October 9.
